Matt began his landscaping career in 1995 and expanded into pool construction in 2001 after clients began asking him to create pools as part of their outdoor spaces. He has been hydromulching since 1999. Over the years, he has worked on more than 500 pools and projects ranging from straightforward resurfacing to complex custom design and construction.

Matt’s design philosophy starts with how the homeowner will actually use the pool. A family with children who want to jump and dive may need something very different from homeowners looking for a shallow, relaxing sport pool. He uses that same practical thinking in resurfacing: inspect the existing pool, understand the homeowner’s priorities and budget, then compare the available finish systems.

Resurfacing knowledge across finish types

Matt works with traditional marcite plaster, quartz, pebble/aggregate finishes and EcoFinish® coating systems. When evaluating an older pool, he looks at waterline tile, discoloration, surface deterioration, possible delamination and signs of water loss. He also considers surface preparation—because the performance of a new finish depends on what is happening underneath it.
