This page explains what the coating is, how it differs from cement-based finishes, how it is applied, and the color options available.

What Is EcoFinish®?

EcoFinish® aquaBRIGHT™ is a thermally applied thermoplastic coating designed for concrete and gunite swimming pools. Unlike plaster, quartz and pebble finishes—which use a cement-based matrix—aquaBRIGHT™ uses a polymer coating system applied with specialized thermal equipment.

A Different Surface Technology

EcoFinish is not another type of plaster. It is a thermoplastic coating, which makes it useful to compare separately from traditional cement-based pool finishes.

Applied by a Trained Applicator

The coating is installed using specialized preparation and thermal application equipment. The quality of the finished surface depends on correct preparation and application.

Color Options

aquaBRIGHT™ is available in a range of colors. Water depth, lighting, surroundings and screen settings can all affect how a color appears.

Concrete & Gunite Pools

aquaBRIGHT™ is the EcoFinish system for concrete and gunite pools. EcoFinish also manufactures polyFIBRO® for fiberglass pools.

EcoFinish® vs. Plaster, Quartz & Pebble

Aqua Pool Finishes offers multiple resurfacing options. That means the goal is not to claim one finish is automatically best—it is to understand the tradeoffs and choose the right surface for the pool and homeowner.

FinishSurface typeWhy homeowners consider it
PlasterCement-basedClassic smooth appearance and lower upfront cost.
QuartzCement + quartz aggregateBalance of smoothness, color options and added durability.

EcoFinish® aquaBRIGHT™Thermoplastic coatingA non-cementitious coating system with a different feel, application method and maintenance profile.

How Is EcoFinish® Applied?

The exact preparation depends on the existing pool and surface condition. In general, the pool surface is evaluated and prepared, the EcoFinish system is applied with specialized thermal equipment, and the completed coating is inspected before the pool returns to service. Your project conditions determine the specific preparation and schedule.

1. Evaluate

Inspect the existing pool surface and identify preparation or repair needs.

2. Prepare

Prepare the substrate so the coating system can be applied correctly.

3. Thermally Apply

The polymer coating is applied with specialized thermal equipment in multiple passes.

4. Finish & Inspect

The completed surface is checked and project-specific filling and care guidance is provided.

EcoFinish® Questions Homeowners Ask

Is EcoFinish® better than plaster?

They are different systems. Plaster is cement-based; aquaBRIGHT™ is a thermally applied thermoplastic coating. The better choice depends on the existing pool, budget, appearance preferences and maintenance priorities.

How long does EcoFinish® last?

Service life depends on installation, pool conditions, chemistry and care. Rather than promise a universal number, Aqua Pool Finishes can explain the manufacturer guidance and what to expect for your specific project.

Can EcoFinish® go on my existing pool?

That depends on the pool type and condition of the existing substrate. Concrete and gunite pools are evaluated before aquaBRIGHT™ installation so the required preparation can be determined.

Who installs EcoFinish® in North Texas?

Aqua Pool Finishes is Currently the only pool resurfacing company actively applying EcoFinish® in North Texas and East Texas.

What does EcoFinish® feel like?
